Biometric Verification System (BVS)

Biometric verification was made mandatory across Pakistan to ensure every SIM card is tied to verified fingerprint data in the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) ecosystem.

Key PTA Regulations Every Citizen Should Know:

  • Biometric Re-verification: When issuing duplicate SIMs or transferring ownership, live BVS authentication is compulsory.
  • Blocked CNIC Handling: If a citizen's CNIC expires or is blocked by NADRA, mobile connections associated with that CNIC may be placed on temporary suspension.
  • Non-Transferable Usage: Selling or lending a biometrically verified SIM card to an unauthorized third party is punishable under PECA laws.

Filing Complaints with PTA

If a mobile operator fails to resolve issues such as uncancelled ghost SIMs, spam calls, or unauthorized charges, subscribers can lodge a formal grievance with the PTA Consumer Complaints Cell:

  • Website Portal: https://complaint.pta.gov.pk
  • Toll-Free Helpline: 0800-55055
